A few thoughts on climate change

I agree with the following statements about climate change, which are taken from a recent essay in National Affairs (a conservative publication, by the way):
“Where there is an almost universally held scientific conclusion, [people] — absent some extraordinary circumstance — should take it seriously.”
“The Republican position — either avowed ignorance or conspiracy theorizing — is ultimately unsustainable.…”

A few comments on the NetRightDaily article about climate change

An article on the website NetRightDaily makes the following assertion relevant to climate change:
“The global ice area is virtually the same today as it was in 1979.”

More about the Iran nuclear deal…

Lawrence Wilkerson, who was Colin Powell’s chief of staff, argues that those who claim we can simply reimpose sanctions are ignoring reality.
“Rejection [of the Iran nuclear deal] means the U.S. is alone. No one else, not even Britain, will follow us. We will be acting entirely unilaterally, without friends or allies (with the exception of Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu). And those who claim that we can simply return to sanctions are hopelessly blind to reality. No one will be with us – absolutely no one. The sanctions will be unilateral and even more feckless than they were before diplomacy achieved comprehensive participation in them. We will be the isolated state.”

Even conservatives disagree with Trump about immigration

Charles Krauthammer is about as conservative as you can get. Yet even he disagrees with Trump’s plan to deport all illegal immigrants:
“This would all be merely ridiculous if it weren’t morally obscene. Forcibly evict 11 million people from their homes? It can’t happen. It shouldn’t happen. And, of course, it won’t ever happen.”

Not really sure what to make about the Parchin story

Further to my previous post about the Parchin nuclear site …
This article from Vox argues that the AP’s article about the Parchin nuclear site has “distorted” a “mild and widely anticipated compromise on a single set of inspections to a single, long-dormant site” into “something that sounds much worse, but actually isn't.”

A disturbing development regarding the Iran nuclear deal

The Associated Press reports about a disturbing development regarding the Iran nuclear deal:
“Iran will be allowed to use its own inspectors to investigate a site [Parchin] it has been accused of using to develop nuclear arms, operating under a secret agreement with the U.N. agency that normally carries out such work.”

Scott Walker, standing up for billionaires

Apparently Scott Walker “signed legislation [last] Wednesday to spend $250 million from taxpayers on a new arena for the Milwaukee Bucks basketball team.” You can read more about it here:

Donald Trump's immigration plan seems like a terrible idea

I know that some people like Donald Trump's immigration plan. However, I am having a difficult time understanding why. To me, it seems like a terrible idea. What am I missing?
